POSITION DESCRIPTION

PELLE is seeking an Assembly Associate who will be a part of our design company’s skilled production team specializing in the manufacturing of custom and high-end lighting fixtures. Responsibilities include the preparation, wiring, and complete assembly of custom lighting fixtures built to top quality standards. In this role, you must be able to work well with your hands to build light fixtures consistently with concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail. This is an on-site position, and you must be present to work in our Red Hook Brooklyn studio, Mondays-Fridays from 9am-5:30pm.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assembly of a variety of custom lighting fixtures with attention to top quality product standards; Wiring/testing of electrical components to meet standards; Use of hand, power tools, and all shop equipment with caution and care.
  • Meet production deadlines to ensure all orders are shipped on time; Assist with the schedule calendar.
  • Careful handling of all fragile materials and parts – glass, paper, finished metal, and decorative parts in the studio.
  • Regular maintenance of physical workspace and physical parts; Assist with wood/metal shop upkeep; End of day sweep up.
  • Coordinate and communicate with the production team; Report regularly to Operations Director.
  • Document and maintain accurate updates into company binders per procedures.
  • Assist with showroom installations of light fixtures if/when necessary.
  • Professional and positive attitude towards the work and team.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Prior work experience in lighting, electrical, manufacturing, fabrication, or the visual arts fields for a minimum of 1-2 years; Wood shop/Metal shop experience is preferred and knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Professional references.
  • Ability to efficiently and safely handle, move, pack, unpack, load, unload sensitive and valuable light fixtures; Physically able to lift and handle large and heavy light fixtures, up to 50lbs, on a regular basis.
  • Possess on-the-job creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be self-organized and accurately follow build instructions well.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, assembling light fixtures.
  • Willingness to learn and to adapt since duties may slightly alter depending on the production needs of the studio.
WORK SCHEDULE, PAY & BENEFITS

The Assembly Associate is a full-time position in our Brooklyn studio. The hourly pay rate is $25/hour with future advancement opportunity. Work hours are a 37.5 hour work week of Mondays-Fridays 9am-5:30pm. No evenings, weekends, or company holidays. Pay period is weekly.
